Hiya!
My name is Karlee Theobald (she/her), and I am the founder of Touch of Lavender Skincare! At 20 years old, I have formed this business from my passion to help people and my obsession with chemical formulation. Outside of Touch of Lavender, I am very artistic and partake in many creative hobbies such as painting, playing multiple instruments, and makeup artistry (which I hope to one day be able to add to my services!). People describe me as being patient, calming, smart, and passionate. I love both listening and talking, and can do both for hours. Please bring any puns, dad jokes, and random facts you might have to your appointment. I might just share a few of my own! I hope I can provide you with a judgement-free space where you can fully relax and quiet your mind!
My Story
Creating a safe space for clients has always been my top priority. I am one of the lucky people that was born with a twin sister. We didn't look alike, but we were still forced to do everything together. We shared the same room, wore matching outifts, and had the same friends. We did everything together and our parents tried their best to keep things "equal" between us. However, no matter how much my parents tried to keep things equal, the world was not as accepting. Friends, family, teachers, would all favor one of us more than the other. Some did not outright depict this, but it was obvious in the way they talked to us, the questions they asked, or how they acted when one of us wasn't present. Just like that, the seed of a quiet competition was planted between the two of us, whether we knew it or not. This seed, however, did not sprout until middle or high school, and I knew I was on the losing side. My ego wouldn't allow me to talk to anyone about this, or else I would be the "weaker" one. Keeping this to myself didn't just stop there, and eventually led to me completely closing myself off. Teen years hit us both differently, but for once, hit us equally as hard. From my perspective, my sister had it all figured out. She was working towards her dreams of college, had a stable group of friends, and everyone thought she was absolutely gorgeous. For me, it suddenly became way too clear that I had been working towards a future I wasn't even sure I wanted. Have I only worked this hard just to keep up with my sister? Was I just trying to keep people happy? Around this time, the COVID lockdown started. I graduated high school, and even started college as a computer science major. About halfway through the lockdown, I went through one of the worst depressive episodes of my life. With how my mindset was before COVID, it was only a matter of time before everything went downhill. Despite all these circumstances, I learned to love and accept myself. After that, almost magically, everything fell into place. I discovered esthetics by random chance scrolling on social media, and immediately knew that it was for me. Not even two weeks later, I found out my neighbor was going to school for esthetics and had put in a word for me to go to school there! I had never been so passionate and excited for something in my life, and that passion grows everyday!
All of this to say, my goal is to provide a safe space for anyone who walks through my door. A space that I might have not been given when I was younger, but I am so grateful to offer that space to others now. On top of that, helping people to become more confident in themselves is a reward of the highest caliber. I truly wish that I can provide a space where you can feel safe and leave feeling confident and at ease!
